French
By introducing the children to the French language, we intend to inspire them to develop a love of languages and to expand their horizons to other countries, cultures and people. We aim to help children grow into curious, confident and reflective language learners and to provide them with a foundation that will equip them for further language studies. During the first two years of study, there is a strong emphasis placed on developing the children’s speaking and listening skills. As the programme of study progresses, these skills are embedded and further developed alongside reading and writing. The children are given opportunities to interact and communicate with others both in speech and in writing and listen to native French speakers.
