WOW is a pupil-led initiative where children self-report how they get to school every day using the interactive WOW Travel Tracker.
If they travel sustainably (walk, cycle, or scoot) once a week for a month, they get rewarded with a badge. It's that easy!
Our amazing road safety champions have been keeping a close eye on the traffic outside our school. In their first week, they observed that more than four cars per day were stopping or parking on the yellow markings, posing a serious risk to everyone crossing the road. Taking action immediately, they reached out to @oldhamcouncil and requested that the yellow markings be repainted to emphasise that parking there is unsafe.
A big shoutout to @oldhamcouncil for swiftly making our school surroundings safer.
A huge thank you to @oldhamcouncil and @officialtfgm for giving our pupils somewhere to park their bikes securely.
We have regular visits from @wearecyclinguk in school to check and repair bikes.
Thank you to @team.rubicon; they taught the children in EYFS, KS1 and Lower KS2 how to ride scooters and skateboards safely.

Sustainability
At Mather Street Primary School, we are taking steps to reduce our carbon footprint. We have 130 solar panels on our school roof, which harness the sun's free energy and generate electricity that we can use in school.
The Solar for Schools team invited some of our Sustainability Stewards to take part in the Parliamentary Showcase Event in London.
Here is a short video of the day.
It costs a lot of money to run a school building. Our governors have looked at ways to save money and help us reduce our carbon footprint.
New LED lights have been fitted as they increase efficiency. The old taps that often dripped have been replaced with new ones.
A visit to the hydro-electric power station at Dovestones - learning about sustainable energy production.
The force of the water creates energy to power the turbine.. Enough electricity is produced to power 100 homes.
Simple changes - we do not have single-use plastics in school - we have reusable plastic cups and mugs instead.
The children have refillable water bottles.
We provide all the children with a PE kit. As the children grow, we give them the next size up and pass the smaller ones down to the younger children.
We have lots of pre-loved items of school uniform in our bargain box.
